Fire Information
Please stay away from the area! The Unified Fire Authority is having a hard time keeping up with what is going on, and they don't have time to deal with the curious public. Don't become part of the problem.
Over a thousand homes are under mandatory evacuation in Herriman. At least three homes have caught fire.
Best we can tell it is being called the "Machine Gun Fire" because the fire started during a training exercise by the US military on a machine gun range. Aprox. 300 acres or more burning, but this is likely a very low estimate. It will be difficult to know the true size until the morning.

Facts
- The Herriman Mayor and Salt Lake County Mayor have declared a State of Emergency.
- An evacuation site has been set up at Herriman High School at 11917 S. 6000 West.
- There are approx 35 CERT volunteers activated, and 40 city employees.
- Over 100 firefighters and 30 units are on scene.
